A Midsummer Night’s Dream Cast List for 12 players

A Midsummer Night’s Dream lends itself to play-reading. The three different casts (the court; the rude mechanicals; the fairies) allows a good distribution of parts across the readers. However, for playing scenes, there aren’t many scenes which are dialogues for 2 players. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is an early play, and in his early plays Shakespeare seems to have mostly written scenes for large number of characters.

Players-Shakespeare.com’s MFFEV5 edition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream provides castings for 6 to 12 playreaders.  This casting is for 12 players. The roles for each player are shown below with links to a highlight text script. If you want to read your script in Parts and Cues format, change the script format in the setup windows (accessed via the gearwheel in the top rigght-hand corner of the script window.

If you’re reading the play with 12 players, the casting will allow most everyone to play a principal role.

The roles for the 12 playreaders are as follows:

Player1: Oberon, Moon, Starveling

Player2: Helena

Player3: Theseus, Moth

Player4: Puck, Lion, Snug
