Let’s Play: Cleopatra bitches about Octavia (Antony and Cleopatra, A3S3, 4 players)

In Act 2 Scene 5, Cleopatra is informed by Messenger5 that Antony, her lover, has married Caesar’s sister Octavia. Cleopatra took the news badly and beat up Messenger5 more than somewhat.

.

Now, in A3S3, she wants to know more about Octavia, and calls Messenger5 back to learn what she can about Olivia.

.

The humour in the scene comes from Messenger5’s understandable nervousness about talking to Cleopatra on this subject, and his desire to find something to see that might please her, and, of course, Cleopatra’s desire to find things with which to run Octavia down

.

This scene (A3S3) requires 4 speaking players, although Alexas and Charmian have little to say, leaving most of the lines to Cleopatra and Messenger 5. Links to each of these parts follows:

.

Play the scene from the start to the end.
