Let’s play the scene where Gloucester jumps off a cliff and then meets the mad Lear in Act 4 Scene 5.
This page let’s three players play that scene, with the two main parts in Parts and Cues format, with Edgar in Highlit Text (so that he can read his lines and act as prompt).
Each player needs their own tablet, smartphone, or laptop, with a web browser.
The three roles, with links to their scripts, are:
Player 1: Gloucester (script in Parts and Cues format)
Player 2: Edgar (script in Highlit text so he can play his part and act as prompt / conductor)
Player 3: Lear (script in Parts and Cues format)
When each player has clicked on the appropriate link, and got to his script, play the scene until Lear’s line: ‘Kill, Kill, Kill,….’ and the entry of Gentleman.
Now you’ve read this scene, there’s a number of things you can do:
Read the scenes again and again, reversing roles, until the speeches sound ‘just right’
